Batman!

Sharing the new opening theme I composed for Holy BatCast: The All Batman Podcast. It is an homage to the music of the Batman throughout his various appearances in media, connected by the various musical themes that represent the character. The piece premiered on the 300th episode of Holy BatCast where I was interviewed about the theme as well.

I love marrying audio to visual elements and created this video in Adobe After Effects mapped to the music, revealing the various Batman iterations as their musical theme comes to the forefront. It starts with a short original intro with an imagined ticking clock and sounds of bats flying inside the Batcave. The music moves into the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice theme by Hans Zimmer/ Junkie XL, overlayed with the Batman : The Brave and the Bold theme by Andy Sturmer. The music fades into themes from Zimmer’s Dark Knight score, overlaid with Danny Elfman’s theme for Michael Keaton's Batman (also used in Batman: The Animated Series). Then we get a glimpse of Andy Sturmer’s music for the animated series “The Batman”, before moving into hints of the Adam West Batman theme. Finally we hear elements of the Michael Giacchino theme for the upcoming The Batman by Matt Reeves. We hear sound bites from all the different actors who played Batman (an idea from the previous podcast theme that I wanted to retain as connective tissue). The music was created in my DAW of choice, Logic Pro X.

I hope Batman fans everywhere enjoy the way these themes blend together seamlessly while each having their moment to shine.

Music and video produced by Gaurav Venkateswar.
